About Judi New

I am a slightly older middle-aged woman (although I don’t yet feel it, except physically), living in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. My perspective is informed by a ‘good’ education, including a liberal Arts degree undertaken in my late 30s which honed my inquiring and rebellious mind.

I’ve had a fair few life experiences and I find I have formed some strong opinions and philosophies along the way on subjects ranging from politics, to social justice, ethics, the environment, and more, including the quirky. Above all, for as long as I can remember I have been endlessly curious and definitely sceptical about the world around me!

So, I’ve decided to share my thoughts with you. I don’t expect you to agree necessarily with anything that I say, but I do hope to get you thinking and perhaps even questioning. If you do want to comment, please do, but I will be moderating comments because I don’t want anything inappropriate making its way onto this site. And, by the way, disagreeing with me is not what I consider ‘inappropriate’. This is my more serious blog – I am beginning another which will be much more personal thoughts, called ‘InsideOut’

I inform my thoughts through various news sites and some blogs, as well as being an ABC listener (mostly 702 Sydney, but also Radio National and News Radio) and viewer. I am unashamedly an ABC-o-phile (which probably labels me straightaway as a ‘bleeding heart lefty), because through them I get a wider, and I think, more balanced view of the world. But I also refer to SBS and the BBC to get a less Aussie-centric opinion. At times, I’ll refer to some of these sources, and probably will include links to their sites.

BTW, what’s with the “videre” in the blog title?  Well, it’s Latin, and it means, variously: to see; to consider; an examination or inspection; an individual and personal perception, judgement or interpretation, and an opinion. And that pretty well sums up what I want this blog to be.

So, here goes, on with the ride….
